From 14 to 16 November 2015, a delegation of Italian Geographic Society formed by Simone Bozzato (Scientific Coordinator), Giulia Urso (Assistent Project Manager) and Fabio Pollice (Communication Manager), visited Palestinian Territories with the aim of promoting the project, cooperating with University College Dar Al-Kalima in order to realize the scattered hotel, and formalizing network with Most Beautiful Villages of Palestine. The mission was a success.

During 14 November, Italian delegation in Ramallah met the mayors of Palestinian Municipalities of the “Most Beautiful Villages of Palestine” Network (ten villages of great historical value) in order to present project and activities related.

The mayors appreciated the project and made the commitment to promote sustainable model of tourism in their villages. The also asked for help in order to realize scattered hotels in each village.

The President of “Most Beautiful Villages of Palestine” Network took part of the meeting and formalized joining in Mediterranean Network of FOP Project.

During the 15 November, Italian delegation visited some historical centers of the network, like Beit Sahour, Bethlehem e Batteer. Furthermore, a delegation of mayors and businesspersons visited the places that will be turned in scattered hotel of Bethlehem, after restructuring. Delegation had the chance to check the restructuring project in details. Particularly valued was the location and the architectural beauty of the buildings within historical centers. Mayors also appreciated that FOP Project allow to recover interesting abandoned buildings. The workshop titled “Educational Tour” let to verify stakeholder interest in this form of hospitality community involved.

During 16th November morning, a bilateral meeting took place, wherein Italian delegation met local partner Dar Al-Kalima College, in order to talk about some issues related to the project. During the meeting, the delegations talked with the architect that worked on restructuring projects, about timeline of works.

During the evening, working group and architect visited the buildings. Thanks to this inspection, working group found some solutions in order to better attract tourists and to better operate with rooms of scattered hotel.

In conclusion, it was a successful mission, which has proven social benefits of FOP Project and concern of public administrators and tourism stakeholders.
